Down Payment Assistance Program

We offer a variety of down-payment assistance programs of its own. In addition, we've compiled this list of programs offered by municipalities and other nonprofit organizations throughout the Capital Region. Many (though not all) of these programs use HUD income limits. Confirm details and availability with each provider.

  • Homebuyer Dream

    Eligible homebuyers may receive up to $9,500 toward home purchase. Available throughout the Capital Region through participating lenders.

  • SONYMA

    In conjunction with a SONYMA loan, receive a 3% Down Payment Assistance Loan. Grant funds also available to renovate an existing home.

  • Housing Justice Fund

    First time buyers who identify as Black may receive up to $10,000 to purchase in the City of Albany or up to $5000 in select other communities

  • City of Albany

    Down payment assistance of 5% of purchase price (up to $10,000) and up to $5000 for closing costs. Often combined with home repair funds.

  • ACRHA

    Funds for acquisition and rehab in areas outside of the City of Albany. For income eligible first time homebuyers when funds are available.

  • Town of Colonie

    Up to $14,000 in assistance for the purchase of a single family home in the Town of Colonie, or villages of Menands or Colonie.

  • City of Troy

    Buy a one or two family home using down payment and closing cost assistance. Amounts depend on income and household size.

  • Rensselaer County

    For income eligible first-time homebuyers in areas outside of the city of Troy. Down payment and closing cost assistance.

  • City of Schenectady

    Up to 10% of the purchase price of a home or $10,000, whichever is less. For eligible first time homebuyers.
